Celine Dion is putting her late mother’s luxurious 16-room mansion up for sale in Saint-Rose, Laval, located about 19 miles northeast of Montreal. The property boasts 87 feet of frontage on the Mille Îles River and offers stunning waterfront views.
The two-level home features a solarium, gas fireplaces, a sewing room, a workshop, and two offices. With a stone facade, the mansion’s solarium is made entirely of glass and is connected to the expansive kitchen, which includes a large island and eat-in area. A great room includes living and dining areas, and a main-floor office features broad bay windows. The principal bathroom suite is outfitted entirely in white.
Built in 2002, the property is listed for C$2.4 million (US$1.785 million) by Re/Max Platine agency in La Prairie. Christine Giguere, the broker for the property, declined all interviews as per the family’s request, and publicists for Ms. Dion have not commented on the listing. Ms. Dion is listed as the home’s owner on the City of Laval’s property tax records.
While it’s unclear when Ms. Dion’s mother bought the property, it’s worth noting that the mansion’s price is significantly higher than the median price of a home in the immediate neighborhood Ste-Rose, which was C$559,850 (US$416,500) in the fourth quarter of 2022, up 6% from the same period year over year.
The aggregate home price across the greater Montreal area was C$544,300 (US$405,000) for the fourth quarter of last year. In the past, Ms. Dion has sold her castle-like residence on a nearby private island in Laval for CAD$25.5 million (US$18.97 million) in 2016, as well as her resort-like Jupiter Island, Florida, home for $38.5 million in 2017, following a 50% price cut after being on the market for four years.
